Introductory Course 2012
London Yoga Teacher Training group invites applications for their new introductory course from serious yoga students wishing to develop their personal practice and explore yoga in more depth. The aim of the course is to provide a thorough grounding in the approach to yoga inspired by Vanda Scaravelli and Mary Stewart. Their teaching emphasises the relationship between gravity, breath and the spine. This approach to practice and teaching has produced a diverse community of highly individual yoga teachers, two of whom will be present at all sessions.
The course will consist of eight full day sessions taking place between January and April 2012 (see below for dates). The course will be lead by Lisa McRory and Cara Bowen and will encourage students to develop an intelligent and sensitive individual yoga practice. There will be an in-depth and exploratory approach to asana, with a solid foundation in breathing practices and pranayama. The course will include an introduction to functional anatomy by Peter Blackaby in a series of practical sessions. Neville Cregan will provide an introduction to yoga philosophy and meditation. Visiting yoga teachers Giovanni Felicioni, Christiane Kerr, Sarah Linsey and Amy Redler will bring their individual teaching styles to intensive asana classes. For further information about any of these teachers use the Teacher Search facility. The course will encourage students and teachers to work together in a collaborative and discursive way, with an open exchange of ideas and approaches to practice.
The course will prepare students for the London Yoga Teacher Training Course commencing September 2012, should they wish to pursue their yoga studies. Led by Chloe Fremantle and Anne-Marie Zulkahari, the teacher training is fully accredited by the BWY.
Cara Bowen and Lisa McRory will hold an Information evening (including asana class) about the course on Friday 7th October in central London. The closing date for applications to the Introductory Course is Sunday 31st October 2011.Dates of course: Friday 13 & Saturday 14 January, Friday 17 & Saturday 18 February, Friday 9 & Saturday 10 March, Friday 20 & Saturday 21 April 2012
