About this deal

When the Horus Heresy set the galaxy ablaze, Roboute Guilliman fought with loyalty and determination for the Imperium that he believed in with all his heart. When he thought that the Emperor had fallen, the primarch established a new seat of power on Macragge, planning to preserve the Emperor's secular purity and Imperial Truth within his own Realm of Ultramar as the Imperium Secundus. Roboute and the Ultramarines were beset by treachery from the very start of the Horus Heresy. First, Horus sidelined them in the Veridian System at the outbreak of the civil war, then Lorgar and his Word Bearers betrayed them at Calth, irradiating the planet and slaughtering the Ultramarines in their thousands.

Ancient Remembrancer sketch from Carpinius' Speculum Historiale, depicting Roboute Guilliman, primarch of the Ultramarines Legion, during the Great Crusade. The child was brought before Konor Guilliman, one of a pair of nobles who bore the title "consul", whose authority governed the most civilised and powerful region of Macragge, and Konor adopted the infant as his own son in a manner not uncommon to his culture, naming him Roboute. Roboute fought a brilliant campaign and won both the submission and the respect of the fierce Illyrium warrior bands, but when he returned to his home from the northern frontier, Roboute found the capital city of Macragge Civitas in turmoil.

If you’re one of the few people who didn’t hear the internet exploding over the momentous return of Lion El’Jonson to the 41st Millennium, then congratulations! You get to gaze over this glorious model for the first time. After assembling and priming Guilliman I left him collecting dust in my project box for about 6 months because I wanted to do him right, eventually you just have to take the plunge. It is known that at the height of his power during the Horus Heresy, Guilliman was armed with the Hand of Dominion — a mighty power gauntlet [13] that with Guilliman's strength could fell a Titan [14], the Gladius Incandor — a blade of exceptional craftsmanship and a symbol of his Legion and also - with an Arbitrator, a customised combi-bolter. [13] For protection, Guilliman wore a suit of Power Armour known as the Armour of Reason. [15] Sam has described the Jaghatai Khan miniature as “grounded and confident” – a perfect mix of aggression and restraint – as well as providing loads more info on how this staggering miniature was designed. So much indeed, that we gave the Khan his own article – a must-read for fans of the White Scars and miniature design. The warrior who acts out of honour cannot fail. His duty is honour itself. Even his death -- if it is honourable -- is a reward and can be no failure, for it has come through duty. Seek honour as you act, therefore, and you will know no fear."

Why do you want to know who the 2nd and 11th primarchs were? Why do you need to know who they were? Why the sudden interest? There are 18 primarchs and 18 legions. There never was a 2nd or 11th legion, or primarchs thereof.

They shall be pure of heart and strong of body, untainted by doubt and unsullied by self-aggrandisement. They will be bright stars on the firmament of battle, Angels of Death whose shining wings bring swift annihilation to the enemies of Man. So it shall be for a thousand times for a thousand years, unto the very end of eternity and the extinction of mortal flesh. Upon his resurrection at the end of the 41st Millennium Guilliman continued to use the Hand of Dominion but took up the Emperor's Sword as his primary weapon. In addition, he now wears the Armour of Fate, the very device that allowed him to heal the injuries sustained by Fulgrim ten thousand years earlier. Upon his return to the capital, Roboute found a coup was underway. Konor had been overthrown by his co-Consol, Gallan. Guilliman and his forces were able to lift the siege of the city before rushing to his adoptive father’s side to witness Konor’s dying moments. With his last breath Konor told Roboute of Gallan’s treachery. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/roboute-guilliman-primarch-of-the-ultramarines (last accessed 13 January 2016)

Under Guilliman's leadership they became arguably the most strategically gifted and tactically balanced of all the Legiones Astartes. Working on the basis of theoretical situations and practical solutions, the Ultramarines fought with exceptional efficiency. They drove the foes of Humanity before them, their armies fighting like intricate and perfectly tuned machines to swiftly and decisively outmanoeuvre every foe. Though the rest of the miniature cleaves closely to the Dark Angels’ themes of knighthood and secrecy, the Emperor’s Shield is a bombastic statement piece that sharply contrasts with the rest of the Lion’s garb. Seb clued us in on its origins, saying “I had this idea that it would be cool for the Loyalist Primarchs to inherit something from their father’s armoury, so we decided that the Lion’s shield would be his. Like the Emperor’s suit of armour, it’s absolutely over-the-top.” Roboute Guilliman, the Avenging Son, the Lord Commander of the Imperium, and Imperial Regent, is one of the most important figures in any Warhammer 40k faction. Come with us to meet everyone’s favourite boy in blue.

While they’re not as large as the Emperor himself, the primarchs are described throughout the Horus Heresy novels (and newer 40k novels in the cases of Roboute Guilliman and Lion El’Jonson) as uncannily huge, towering over other characters, and inducing great ‘transhuman dread’ among nearbybaseline humans and Astartes alike. The other seven traitor primarchs and legions all had their own justifications for turning their coats – and their individual journeys into ever deeper entanglement with the warp played out very differently.
