Trained with Pete Blackaby originally (classes and workshops), John Stirk later, then an AIYP approved 200hr teacher training course at Natural Bodies in Brighton in 2001 with Gary Carter and visiting teachers. Have also trained as a Thai yoga massage therapist at the Thai yoga massage School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. AIYP member, insured via them by Sun Alliance. My practice and teaching continues to evolve – the intention is always to find strength and freedom by removing conflict, and develop to wholeness and simplicity in the process. The teachers that have had the most profound influence on my work are – Pete Blackaby, John Stirk, Diane Long and Sophy Hoare.

My teaching is inspired by the much-needed calm and clarity that I find in my yoga and meditation practice.

I am a British Wheel of Yoga qualified teacher and have been teaching since 2001. I teach weekly classes, workshops and courses in Brighton, as well as on courses and retreats in London and Scotland. I am an associate director of the London Yoga Teacher Training Group’s 2013-15 yoga teacher training course.

My approach to yoga is based on the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, and I have worked for many years with teachers including Peter Blackaby, Chloe Fremantle and Dominique Moorsom. My teaching has also been inspired by TKV Desikachar and teachers working in his tradition, in particular Sarah Ryan.

I believe that everyone deserves to live well and to live in a relaxed body. I have been teaching since 1994, started with a BWY Diploma and then modified my approach after studying more intensively with Pete Blackaby and his colleagues. I aim to use the best communication techniques, such as NLP, to make my teaching accessible to all. With a background as a scientist, and a professional training in sales and marketing, I teach in English and with the minimum of jargon.

I have been practising yoga since 1978, I did my yoga training with John Stirk and studied with him for 9 years.
I trained as a shiatsu practitioner in 1981 and became a shiatsu teacher in 1987. I was the principal of the British School of Shiatsu-Do between 1999 and 2004.

My knowledge of Chinese medicine, body energetics, bodywork and an extensive knowledge of anatomy inform my teaching.

John Stirk has been a big influence on my yoga and I continue to work with other teachers and stay open to other ways of working.

I have also worked with Gabrielle Roth and dance as much as I can.

Central to my approach to teaching is an acceptance of where each student is with their own Yoga so that practice is sensitive and without struggle. I am influenced by my own Yoga teachers (Mary Stewart, Monica Voss, Chloe Fremantle, Peter Blackaby, amongst others) and students, and by other movement disciplines that inform my understanding.

As well as adult classes, some of the more specific groups I work with include: the Over 60s, children in schools and nurseries, and families. I am Co-Director of the BWY accredited London Yoga Teacher Training Course and I am a teacher trainer on the Calm for Kids Yoga Teacher Training programme.

Most of my regular adult teaching takes place in Brighton and the surrounding area but I also teach day workshops and weekends nationally.

I started yoga in 1995 and had the good fortune to find great teachers on my doorstep – namely Liz Warrington, Gary Carter, Pete Blackaby & John Stirk. In 2000 I spent seven months in India searching for yogic inspiration. I studied as sVYASA & Satyananda Ashrams in Bangalore. Upon my return to Brighton in 2001 I began teaching andI undertook training with John Stirk & Sophy Hoare, and worked regularly with Diane Long until 2007. Full member of AIYP.

My teaching combines my yoga experience with influences from Vipassana (Insight) Buddhist meditation.
